This article examines the role of the Integrated Authority File (Gemeinsame Normdatei, GND) within the data space of the NFDI consortium Text+ and demonstrates how authority data function as a semantic integration layer for humanities research data. Focusing on the core Text+ services — Registry, Federated Content Search (FCS), the GND Agency Text+, as well as GNDplus and the GND Explorer — the paper shows how persistent identifiers and controlled vocabularies enable the linking, discoverability, and reuse of distributed research resources. The GND serves as an interoperable reference anchor connecting metadata, full-text annotations, and knowledge graphs. The article discusses both technical approaches to entity disambiguation and authority-data-based retrieval as well as organizational strategies for community integration and quality assurance. Text+ is presented as a model for a sustainable, interconnected, and interoperable humanities data space.
