For a variety of reasons, it is important for libraries to understand how their resources are being used and whether their services are in demand. However, the role of libraries as providers of physical spaces, which has been gaining in significance for many years, is generally only dimly reflected in statistical data. This article thus aims to explore current practices in measuring visitor numbers. It addresses methodological aspects, explores potential applications for the collected data, and discusses how additional metrics could provide valuable insights.
