Abstract

At the University Library of Freie Universität Berlin, far-reaching changes in the organization have been initiated between May 2019 and May 2021 as part of a comprehensive change project. A strategy was formulated for the first time with the aim of aligning the library with the needs of users and focusing on the digital future of academic libraries. In addition, the organization has been redesigned at various points to be able to work productively and together with the members of the university on current and future challenges. This article explains the course of the project and its most important results, highlights some aspects of the process, and takes a look at the next steps in organizational development.
