Abstract

Bibliotheksangst beschreibt Unsicherheiten und Ängste, die bei der Nutzung von Bibliotheken auftreten können. Während das Phänomen international bereits vielfach untersucht wurde, lagen für Deutschland bislang keine entsprechenden Studien vor. Mithilfe von Fokusgruppeninterviews wurde in einer Bachelorarbeit untersucht, ob Bibliotheksangst auch bei Bibliotheksstudierenden in Deutschland auftritt, wie sie sich äußert, welche Faktoren ihr Erleben beeinflussen und ob es Unterschiede zwischen öffentlichen und wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken gibt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Bibliotheksangst auch bei Bibliotheksstudierenden in Deutschland vorkommt. Jedoch sind nicht alle von diesen Unsicherheiten oder Ängsten betroffen; manche empfinden im Umgang mit Bibliotheken überwiegend positive Gefühle. Wichtige Einflussfaktoren sind die Atmosphäre in der Bibliothek, die räumliche Gestaltung und Architektur, die Vertrautheit mit der jeweiligen Bibliothek sowie das Bibliothekspersonal. Wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken werden tendenziell eher mit Unsicherheiten verbunden als öffentliche Bibliotheken. Vorerfahrungen und Kenntnisse erleichtern einerseits die Bibliotheksnutzung, führen aber andererseits bei manchen Befragten zu einem erhöhten Druck, sich als Bibliotheksstudierende besonders gut auskennen zu müssen. Die Ergebnisse bieten eine Grundlage, um Unsicherheiten von Nutzer*innen besser zu verstehen und gezielte Maßnahmen zur Verringerung von Bibliotheksangst abzuleiten.
